Volunteers are at The Heart of Barberton Hospice & Palliative Care Volunteers provide companionship, a listening ear, and relief for caregivers. When you volunteer at Barberton Hospice & Palliative Care, we begin by focusing on you. We take what you do best and give you a new, rewarding avenue in which to use your skills. A comprehensive training program prepares you for your volunteer career. Training is offered two times each year. A Direct Patient Care Volunteer….interacts directly with the terminally-ill and their families. Volunteers provide caring compassion by holding a hand, playing cards, preparing meals, running errands, staying with the patient so the family can enjoy a well-deserved evening out, or whatever is needed to provide help and support. An Office Volunteer….provides invaluable assistance in the Hospice office to give the staff more time to care for patients. Volunteers assemble new patient packets, file, help with mailings, and assist with computer data entry. A Fundraising Volunteer…helps plan and assists at our fundraising events. Because Barberton Hospice & Palliative Care is a non-profit organization, fundraising is essential.
